Reading about…

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

war this time. I just started today Kipling’s Choice by Geert Spillebeen. This is a fictionalized account of what might have happened to Rudyard Kipling’s(writer of the Jungle Book) son during World War I. The descriptions so far have been great. I really get a feel for being in the war and what the injuries are like. Flipping through the frustrating thing about this book is that there are no chapters. It is told in flashbacks but there is one chapter 147 pages long. It just makes it hard to put down since there is not a good stopping point. Maybe that is the point. We are not meant to put this book down. STILL not a happy book. What is it about books that were nominated for the Iowa Teen Award that are not happy. Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving and read a good book or two.

Reading

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

I have finished Heaven Looks A Lot Like A Mall by Wendy Mass. I certainly have been finding all the death an dying books. This one our main character is hit in the head by a ball playing dodgeball. Only she doesn’t duck. She then is on a journey revisiting her life. This is another one told in prose. A very quick read.

Thanks to those that have entered comments. I do read them. Well on to another book. I must get out of this phase by the holidays. This is another suicide one.
